Bev Lee - Sponsor Secretary
Hello! Thank you for wanting to find out a little more about me, and my involvement with Pussycat Lodge.
My name is Bev and I will be taking over the extremely important role of sponsor club secretary from Kerry in January, Kerry is stepping down due to health issues and work commitments.
I thought it would be a good idea to let you know a little bit about me, my cats and other pets, and of course how I became involved with such an incredible charity.
My journey with PCL began when I adopted my beautiful girl Pearl back in June 2024. Pearl was in rescue as she was found in a garden with her kittens who were just weeks old. She is the sweetest girl and I fell in love instantly. She just looked so sad, and had never known the love of a human. I have to say, Pearl is still a work in progress as she is so timid, however she is settled and happy and we are going at her pace!
Just four weeks after bringing Pearl home, a scrawny little stray also decided to chose us to be his humans! We called him Sonny and it turned out he has a long term health condition called triaditis, which I had never heard of until his vet stay! So now we have Pearl, Sonny, our nine year old dog Coco (who is the calmest sweetest doggie) and our tortoise Charlie who has also had a vet stay due to a fox biting her tail off! She is fully recovered now thank goodness! (I don’t feel as though I’m done adopting yet but my husband disagrees!)
After meeting some of the volunteers at Pussycat Lodge when I adopted Pearl, I decided I wanted to join them! Now I volunteer at the rescue one morning a week, and do the evening shift once a month. PCL is my happy place and I just love being there!
As I work two days a week (phased return following AML) at Basildon hospital in the lab, specifically blood transfusion, I realised I have some time to dedicate to our Sponsor Cat Club. Which brings me back to why you are reading this...!
The Sponsor Cat Club is slightly different to the normal membership and supports the cats who only get adopted because, between us all, we fund their ongoing medical condition. Without this, they would most likely spend the rest of their days living at the rescue, rather than enjoying the life every cat should - in a loving home.
The Sponsor Cat Club donations help these cats throughout their lifetime, and we could not do it without the club. I would very much like to increase awareness and membership to the Sponsor Club, so if you have a friend or a member of the family that would like to join our club, please forward our webpage to them and ask them to contact me.
Lastly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for looking at our website and especially the sponsor section. I would love you to get involved with us, the more the merrier and for those of you who already do - Thank you. It means the world to PCL and to the Sponsor cats who rely so much on your donations daily.
