In Praise of Black & Black/White Cats

This page is for members' stories of the time they share or have shared with their own Black Beauties.

I am one of your sponsors and one of your fund raisers. When I tragically lost my beloved Felix, who was also a black and white cat, Jennie called me to tell me about Jack who was perfectly suited for me as he was used to other cats and was about 4 or 5 years old. I had to wait a while as I was going away for a few days and didn't want to leave Jack too soon. I did visit him though, so that we could bond. I duly brought him home and oh what a lovely boy he is!

I have had my lad for nearly 4 years now and from being a macho cat, he is now a 'big girls blouse'. I have 3 others cats: Rigsby, also black and white; my beloved black cat Katie; and Bonnie, a white and tortie. I have had 9 cats altogether (including the present 4), 5 of which have been black and white.

Black and white cats are all different. They all have different markings and all 5 have been a joy to me. I just can't understand why people seem so reluctant to home black and white and all black cats. Please do consider adopting black and white and all black cats. They are great!

Sandra Wilson, February 2006

Dear Jacqui and All,

We have recently had to have our youngest cat put to sleep. She had a massive heart attack which caused brain damage. Going through several websites I came across something I had never realised before: that people would turn down a healthy cat because it was black. Three of my previous cats have been black and I've always found them loving, full of character and masses of energy wrapped up in seductive black fur. I was fuming at this injustice and weeping in grief over my lovely girl when I found the website for PussyCat Lodge. Your page on Black Beauties brought a smile to my face. I can hear little Amy saying "See Mum you're not the only one who loves us blackies".

Amy

Going through your website the pages had me smiling and crying at the same time and has helped me, easing me through my pain. My cat mad hubby and I are now searching for another cat to claim us. All three of us (hubby, myself and Hannah, the ruler of the house) agree our house is way too big without our black fuzzball. We're looking in our local area (Beds) and hope there is a cat here mad enough to want us.

Have made a note in diary of your events all I have to do now is persuade hubby that driving to Essex is a good idea.

Best Wishes, Pam Smith, February 2006
