More Sponsor Cats
|
| |
Although PussyCat Lodge is small, we try never to turn away a cat in need. We often have elderly or sick cats who cannot be homed due to their age or condition. Sometimes the younger cats can be rehomed after treatment and they stay at the Lodge until that time. It is because of this need that we now have a 2nd page of delightful sponsor cats!

Kevin
Kevin came in as a 16 week old kitten with a terrible skin condition. He was found dumped in the South Essex area, abandoned by his owners. He is very friendly and for all his suffering will purr loudly as soon as he is cuddled! He loves everyone and is described by Jennie as yummy!! Kevin cannot yet be homed due to his medical condition.
In May Kevin had a biopsy on his lower mandible gland as it is enlarged. Nothing was apparent from this but unfortunately it also didn't rule anything out. His steroids and anitbiotics have now been stopped for 3 months. His glands are still enlarged so it could be a different lymph node.
His skin has now cleared up and he is not allergic to food. When he went to the veterinary centre in Newmarket, the specialist said he could have been bitten by a vole and caught a TB like virus! Next month Kevin will be well enough to be neutered. At the same time the vet will carry out a biopsy and X-rays to send to the specialist vet at Newmarket.

Kevin has an unusual habit - he loves playing with water! Jennie reports that he sits in the sink and waits for the taps to be turned on!! When Kevin is fully recovered he will need a very special home with lots of love and cuddles.

Goldilocks
Goldilocks was living in a haulage company in Dagenham Dock. For a few days, the warehouseman had been hearing distressed cries of kittens among the thousands of boxes stored there. He had seen a tortoiseshell cat going in and out while the shutters were open. Jane and Jennie managed to trap Goldilocks and she went to stay at PussyCat Lodge with her 3 kittens, all chubby and cute: 1 tortoiseshell like mum, 1 black and white and 1 ginger and white.
All Goldilocks kittens have now been rehomed. While she was waiting for that special home, she moved in with Jennie and now Jennie has fallen in love with her. It would take a very special person to prise her way from Jennie!

Sonny
Sonny came in with April in February 2005 as they had recently lost their much loved owner who had been a staunch supporter of PussyCat Lodge from the very beginning. April has since been rehomed and Sonny has moved in with Jennie.
He has proven to be a big softie who likes nothing better than curling up on a cushion in a sunny spot and having a snooze. He is also a confirmed lap cat and now sleeps on Jennie's bed! He has recently had an operation on his left ear to remove cancerous cells but he is expected to make a full recovery. Jennie also suspects that he may be deaf.

Crystal
Crystal came in to PussyCat Lodge at 17 years young. Her when her owner had been evicted from her home and was then let down by the home she had lined up for Crystal and another cat. As Jennie arrived to collect the cats, the landlord had just evicted them from the property too! Crystal was trying to get back in and Jennie said she was very confused, as being old she hadn't gone out much. Crystal's companion was rehomed quite quickly but Crystal was looking for that special home for some time.
Although initially alarmed at finding herself at the Lodge amongst so many cats, Crystal soon settled in to life at Jennie's. She is a very friendly, sweet and affectionate black cat who neither looks nor acts 17, and still likes to play with a ball! She will now spend her remaining years and months at the Lodge with Jennie and the other cats.

William
William is a happy, loving little chap who came in to PussyCat Lodge in a bad way. His poor start in life has left him with a myriad of problems that are preventing him from being rehomed until they are sorted out, although it is unlikely that Jane will part with him now!
His full story can be read on William's Appeal

Melanie
Melanie is a black and white 4 year old female cat. She was living as a stray with three other cats in a garden in Dagenham. The lady was feeding the cats, but they also needed to be neutered and have a health check, so all four were trapped, neutered, any treatment needed given and returned to the care of the lady in Dagenham. Melanie couldn't be neutered as she had cat flu. She stayed with Jane until better when she was neutered. The cat flu had left her with rhinitis, so she is now living with Jane as a sponsor cat.
