Dear Jennie and the gang,
Just a little email to let you know how Bonnie and Clyde - now re-christened Maximus and Tabitha, or Max and Tabby - are getting on.
After a mew-filled journey home (Max curled up and slept but Tabby did not like the pet carrier!), we let them out into their new home. Max is very bold and relaxed and was straight into explore mode. Tabby was a bit more timid and crept around at first, but her brother soon dive-bombed her and got her playing and they were both fine after half an hour. Tabby spent a lot of the first day hiding under the the sofa-chair but she's absolutely fine now and comes to meet us when we come in the room, although they both still like to sleep under there - frustrating for us, firstly since we can't see them all cuddled up together, and secondly as we spent all that money on a new bed and they seem to prefer the floor!!! Although the bed comes in use as a landing mat when they're wrestling each other!
We're still just keeping them in the lounge for the moment but they're getting bolder and want to see the rest of the house. They keep diving for the door when it opens, you have to be quick! They're also very fascinated with the patio doors and the view to the garden - all those seagulls flying past! Don't worry, they won't be going out there for a couple of months at least. They're very affectionate cats and sit on our laps when they've worn themselves out with all the rough and tumbling. They 'prrrp' to us when we come in the room, and we've heard both their purrs. Tabby has a little motor inside her, I'm sure!
Both of them knew exactly what the litter tray was for and touch wood no accidents so far. I cooked them some chicken on the first day as you suggested - they ate better than us that night as neither of us wanted to leave them alone long enough to cook! Now they're onto kitten Iams and Whiskas. They're teaching us new ways to use old objects - why just use rugs to protect the carpet when they can be scrambled under? And why just use blinds for the windows when they can be climbed up? (Max is particularly good at this.) They're already showing us their personalities, and we love them to bits already! It's so hard to go to work! (In fact I'm at home today, couldn't resist!)
Anyway, I'm off downstairs to give them another cuddle. I'll hopefully see you on Saturday with Mum, then it'll be back home to take the kits to the vets for their first vaccination. Thank you so much for finding us Max and Tabs. We think they're wonderful and they've really made our house a home.
