George

1990 - 2004

George came to PussyCat Lodge via a neighbouring cat rescue group in 1990. He was an extremely grumpy 12 week old feral kitten with curly (spiral) tail. At 5 months of age George went off to the vets to be neutered and, due to the defect, have his tail removed. Being feral the vet also cut the tip off his ear: well it should have been just the tip! George returned to PussyCat Lodge to await a suitable home. With no home in sight he was allowed to join the garden cats, therefore enjoying the freedom to come and go as he pleased. Then he discovered the human's house and sort of took up residence on the kitchen worktop where his hisses eventually became purrs. He grew in to a very loyal, affectionate softie but still remembered he was a feral when it came to pill or vet time! Asking Jennie where George got his name she replied: "I named him after my husband. I loved him dearly but he was a right grumpy so and so at times".
