In order to give Jennie and our staff of volunteers a well earned break, PussyCat Lodge will be closed for rehoming between 20/12/2005 and 03/01/2006. No cats or kittens will be available for rehoming during this time. Jennie will not be able to answer your calls during this time and we would ask you not to call if it can be avoided. For any real emergencies, please do not hesitate to contact Jennie.
Our reasons for not rehoming over the festive period are simple:
-
Christmas is a time of great upheaval and noise in most households with visitors traipsing in and out. This can be hard for any animal to cope with but is especially unfair on the new addition to your household.
-
Neither do we believe that any animal should be given as a present unless the recipient is aware of the life long responsibility involved in its care. All too many animals find themselves homeless in the New Year when the novelty has worn off. Giving a cat or kitten as a surprise gift is not something we recommend or agree with: the gift may not be truly wanted.
An animal is for Life, not just for Christmas!
We feel sure that those people who have given serious consideration to rehoming one or some of our cats and kittens would be more than happy to wait until the New Year before bringing their new addition home. As we are only a small organisation, we are unable to make any exceptions to this rule.
