Sponsored Abseil 2005 The YMCA sponsored abseil event took place over two days this year. I did my abseil on the Sunday, 25th September. Thankfully, it did not rain although it was quite fresh at 9.00 am. I did not notice it too much. I had other things on my mind. I do not have a problem going over the edge or coming down but having to be on site forty minutes before my time slot gives plenty of time for nerves to start playing tricks. Last year was my first abseil so this time I was better prepared but even so just over a third of the way down of the twelve story building it was surprisingly windy. This made it difficult to keep a foot hold for the rest of the descent and quite a few people had problems at this point. At ground level it was not so windy so people could not appreciate what was happening. It just looked like the wall was very slippery all of a sudden. I would like to thank Edith Parker, Whiskey Parker and G Ballou for sponsoring me. The sponsor money from members came to £30.00. I had to raise £50.00 sponsor money for the YMCA/Rotary Club of Havering. This money I got from family and friends. I enjoyed myself and hope to do it again next year.
